Just as exercise strengthens muscles, reading strengthens the brain. It can take you to amazing places and help develop new and different ways of thinking.
Therefore, students entering PreSchool, PreKindergarten and Kindergarten are being encouraged to read a minimum of TEN books over the summer. This is not required, but a special prize will be given to each student that reads the minimum number of books.
Attached you will find a reading log that must be completed and returned the first week of school. Listed below are your teacher’s favorite book suggestions to help get you started. Happy reading!

Students entering 3rd – 5th grades must read TWO of the three books listed below. Students are required to create a children’s picture book summarizing the book of their choice. The project must include five scenes drawn (in chronological order) with a paragraph description/explanation. Please refer to each grade level for paragraph length. Please make sure that your child has read and completed the required assignment prior to returning to school in the fall.
3rd Grade: (3 sentence paragraphs)
